I don’t ever remember a time I wasn’t crazy over horses. I borrowed any horse I could to take care of and ride. After saving babysitting money and lifeguarding money, I bought my own horse… the day before, I left for college! Somehow I managed to work through college and keep my horse close by. In fact, since that day, a horse has always been at my side, helping me navigate through life.

Author
Annie Levitt is the author and illustrator of First Day at Halsey Hollow Farm. She grew up with horses often borrowing a horse until she was able to purchase a horse of her own.
Like most horse crazy kids, she spent hours drawing them, dreaming about them and caring for them. Halsey Hollow Farm is located in Upstate New York. She and her husband Kirk renovated the old farm house and barn. They filled the property with gardens and horse pastures.
The farm continues to provide happy days with their children, grandchildren, horses, dogs, a few chickens and lots of love.
