His life after diagnosis has been filled with the ups and downs of life’s journey as a result of the experimental treatment he received at 10 years old. The author shares personal stories and events that helped shape his life after cancer and what drove him to have a career in healthcare helping others overcome injuries. Surviving cancer shaped John’s life into a story of courage, determination, and faith, giving him the joys of overcoming heavy struggles with the physical side effects and mental challenges from the experimental treatment that saved his life.

John has been married to Wendy for 31 years and together they have 3 children. His work career spanned over 35 years as a Certified Athletic Trainer working various settings including High Schools, Junior College, and Universities. He retired in 2024 due to recurring health issues. John has his Master’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, worked as a Clinical Instructor for the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, and SUNY Buffalo Family Medicine Residency Program. He was an adjunct professor for the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and St. Bonaventure University. He was a Certified Examiner for the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification, Certified Athletic Trainer for the Empire State Games, Certified Athletic Trainer for the World University Games-Buffalo 1999.
