Later, he returned to Kansas City to finish out his teenage years on East 41st Street. No matter where he lived, Henry got himself into predicament after predicament, with trouble his constant and closest companion. Henry joined the Marines at age 17. He later became a Kansas City firefighter, witnessing first-hand the local riots resulting from the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr in 1968. Henry’s character grew out of his life experiences, and his years of mishaps and misadventures made him into the local hero he later became.
